After 18 years in his former studio, longtime Rochester resident Wayne Luckhas moved Wayne's Fine Jewelry Design and Repair Studioto a new home.
He opened the doors of his new studio and showroom on March 3 at 1134 Seventh St. N.W. in the Northgate Shopping Center. That puts him in the same complex as Northgate Fitness & Wellness Center. His previous address was upstairs at 521 North Broadway.
This new 1,800-square-foot space gives him room to spread out and set up more displays of his work for customers to see.
"But it's not your typical jewelry store," he says.
He specializes in custom-made jewelry pieces of all kinds. Luck's certified titles include master jeweler, goldsmith, silversmith, gemologist and watchmaker among others.

A John Marshall High School alumnus, his work with jewelery began very early in Rochester. He says while other children were running lemonade stands, Luck had his own jewelery stand.
"The kids selling lemonade would come to me to buy rings for their mothers," he remembers.
By the age of 10, he was learning about watches from a Rochester jeweler. He continued to follow a career in the jewelry industry working in design, wholesale, repair and other aspects of the profession. His first local store, Rochester's Gold and Diamond Center, was located downtown in the Holiday Inn.
In the new studio, Luck has room for a staff of four, including two other jewelers, to assist him. — Jeff Kiger
