Heard on the Street: Workforce Development gets grant to prepare workers

Workforce Development Inc.has received a $125,000 grant from the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development.

The funding will be used to support the Emerging Leadersprogram, designed to combine work experience and work readiness programs, with a focus on youth who are under-represented in the workforce.

These populations include young adults who are not in school, from low-income families, habitually truant, disabled and/or from minority communities.

The project includes a multi-tiered work experience and work readiness education model that incorporates community outreach and employer education.
