The Worlein Funeral Home in Austin has received National Funeral Director Association's Pursuit of Excellence award for its programming and customer service.

Each year, just 2 percent of funeral homes earn the award, given to firms that have demonstrated proficiency in key areas of funeral service.

Worlein was also one of just four to win the best of the best award, recognizing an innovative program, in honor of its production in conjunction with KSMQ public television titled "Embracing Grief."

The film features the personal stories of six families served by Worlein Funeral Home who have lost a loved one.

KSMQ OFFICERS:The KSMQ Public Television Board of Directors has elected Roger Boughton of Austin as its chairman. He's a retired Riverland Community College administrator.

Other officers elected were Vice Chairman Randy Kehr, who is executive director of the Albert Lea-Freeborn County Chamber of Commerce; Secretary Pamela Bishop of Owatonna, who is vice President of the Southern Minnesota Initiative Foundation; Treasurer Thomas Wente, a Principal with Smith Schaefer Associates, Ltd. on Rochester.

"KSMQ is embarking on a significant growth initiative and we felt it was important to keep the executive committee intact for the coming year," said Roger Boughton, board chairman.

"Under CEO Eric Olson's leadership KSMQ is poised to advance local program offerings and grow our viewership. It is an exciting time to be serving on the board of KSMQ Public Television." — Mike Klein
