The 33rd annual Builders Home Show will be Friday through Sunday at the Mayo Civic Center, marking the kick-start to the construction season.
Sponsored by the Rochester Area Builders, it offers seminars, fun activities and 195 exhibitors, including builders, real estate agents, designers and others. About 6,000 people attended last year.
"February is not a typical construction month, and people are gathering ideas now,"
said John Eischen, executive director of the RAB. "It offers an opportunity to talk to a number of people in one spot, whether you're replacing your deck, building a home or even just replacing a faucet."
The hours are 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday; 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday; and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. The cost is $5 for adults and $1 for children ages 7-16; kids 6 and under are free.

A Happy Hour will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday at the civic center;
Family Fun Day will be from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, with special activities from exhibitors, as well as a build a bird feeder activity, the House of Bounce inflatables, magician and puppeteer Jim Jays and a performance by Tricia & the Toonies.
An ice cream social will be on Sunday, with ice cream samples from Kemps, as well as several sports mascots available for photos, including the Honkers' Slider, the University of Minnesota Raptor, the Century Panther and Rocky the Rocket from John Marshall,
Educational seminars, which take place all three days, include the topics Proper Installation of a Paver Patio, Aging in Place — How to Safely Remain in Your Home During Your Golden Years, Emerald Ash Borer, Build Green With Insulated Concrete Forms, and Overcoming the Challenges of Remodeling an Older Home.
