A long-time Med City retailer plans to triple in size by building a new store near its current location.
Quality Woods Furniture owners Chris and Collin Craven have filed plans to build a 34,000-square-foot store on open land about a block south of its current frontage road location at 1431 US 52 North.
The proposed building will stand just north of John Hardy’s Bar-B-Q North and south of the Bowman's Door Solutions complex .
Chris Craven explained that the new center will allow growing QW Furniture to expand its upholstered and outdoor furniture offerings as well as provide a larger selection of mattresses.
He said that building a bigger footprint so near the current store just made sense.

“We like that location along Highway 52. We’re very happy there, so we decided to build in the same neighborhood,” said Craven.
While the lingering impact of the pandemic could still cause delays, the Cravens are hopeful that construction will start this fall.
Once complete, the expectation is that QW Furniture also will expand its current team of seven employees to staff the much larger store.
The project marks the latest milestone in QW Furniture’s 32 year history in Rochester.
The family-owned business opened in 1989 and eventually occupied a collection of buildings on the northeast corner of Rochester’s Broadway and US 14. In 2008, QW Furniture moved from that corner to the former Harmon Auto Glass facility on the north Highway 52 frontage road.
