A Rochester credit union opened the doors of a new Stewartville branch to the public on Monday.

First Alliance Credit Union, which has three Rochester branches and one in Byron, opened its new Stewartville branch at 300 N. Main St. That's the former home of a Wells Fargo Bank branch, which closed in 2019.

“We have had growing membership within Stewartville and in surrounding communities for several years, so it made sense for us to bring a branch into the community to better serve our members here,” First Alliance Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Mark Hettinger said in the announcement of the opening.

About 20 of First Alliance’s administrative staffers have been working in the Stewartville office since February, but Monday marked the opening of the branch to the public.

The branch features new “Advisor Supported Kiosks” as well as a team of three “Member Experience Advisors.” The automated kiosks offer assistance with deposits, withdrawals, check cashing, and loan payments. If a member needs to speak to a person, they can initiate a video call with a live adviser.

“We are always looking to improve our member’s experiences,” stated Hettinger. “Even before the pandemic, we knew that leveraging the latest technology was going to help us achieve that goal.”

The opening of the Stewartville branch follows First Alliance’s recent launch of a new, multi-business branch in a “cooperative” center at 2483 Commerce Drive NW. It opened at the start of June. Moka Coffee and Great Harvest Bread Co. also have locations inside the West Circle Drive complex.
