Rochester City Lines is adding a fourth bus on Sept. 3 to serve commuters in Preston, Fountain and Chatfield.
Christian Holter, Rochester City Lines' community liaison, said this addition is being made in response to requests from riders.
"This marks the first time we've offered four buses in the morning for any commuter route, so this is a big deal," he says. "It really offers people a lot of flexibility."
The current early bus will start a few minutes later than previously for 6:30 start time. It will leave Preston at 5:22 a.m., Fountain at 5:29 a.m. and Chatfield at 5:47 a.m. with new arrival times of 6:10 a.m. at Saint Marys Hospital and 6:15 a.m. in downtown Rochester.
The new bus will depart Preston at 5:52 a.m., Fountain at 5:59 a.m. and Chatfield at 6:17 a.m. It will arrive at Saint Marys Hospital at 6:40 a.m. and downtown at 6:45 a.m.

This additional bus will add a third Rochester departure time for commuters on that route. It leaves downtown at 3:40 p.m. and 3:42 p.m. from the Saint Marys Hospital campus.
"By offering folks this new early ride home in the afternoon, we're hoping that those who have maybe been driving because of the limited afternoon options will give the bus a ride now," says Mike Rizzo, Rochester City Lines' commuter division manager.
