Rochester's Gamehaven Council, the local Boy Scout organization, recently earned its real estate badge by selling its Southeast Rochester office complex for almost $600,000.
The organization's 57-year-old building at 1124 11 1/2 St. SE was purchased by Top Hat LLC on Nov. 12 for $599,000.
Top Hat is led by Tom Hill. Hill, with his wife, Michelle Hill, owns Matik Management, which is a Rochester property management firm. Top Hat made a $53,650 down payment on the 3,400-square-foot building.
Gamehaven Council Scout Executive/CEO Jason Dugan explained that the group decided to sell because it no longer needs the office space and Scouting goods store the building housed. The six employees who had worked there moved to Residences of Old Town Hall at 607 E Center St in March.
The Gamehaven Council works with 2,600 people in Dodge, Fillmore, Goodhue, Olmsted, Steele, Wabasha and Winona counties.
Matik is preparing to move its offices from 3249 19th St NW to the former Scouting complex. Michelle Matik said they hope to to move their team of 10 employees there by mid-December.
“We’re really excited about it,” she said. “We just need more room to grow.”
