Med City fans of a national sub shop chain will soon be able to get a taste of Jersey.
Jersey Mike's Subs, appropriately based in Manasquan, N.J., will open its first Rochester location at Suite 300 at 2665 Commerce Drive NW on Sept. 30. That’s the commercial center along West Circle Drive Northwest that’s anchored by US Bank and Ootori Sushi.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, customers won’t be able to eat inside the new Rochester shop, but they will be able to order take-out through the Jersey Mike’s website and menu app as well as for delivery.
The sandwich shop is known for hot subs, like its Mike's Famous Philly or the Big Kahuna Cheese Steak. It also serves up cold subs, like the Cancro Special and the Jersey Shore's Favorite.
Neil and Tori Starks are general managers of the new Med City eatery.
This new location will fill a spot within franchise owner Bart Crockett's geographic portfolio. He opened one in Onalaska, Wis., last summer. He also owns six Minnesota shops at Vadnais Heights, Maplewood, North Oaks, St. Cloud, Coon Rapids and Brooklyn Park.
Jersey Mike’s has 31 Minnesota locations with the new Rochester restaurant. The chain has about 2,000 locations in the US.
The sandwich shop joins a growing number of eateries in Northwest Rochester, including Tap House West End, Smoak, the planned IHOP restaurant, a recently opened Great Harvest Bread Co. location as well as direct competition in the form of a very nearby Subway Sandwich shop.
