Expect the smell of deep dish pizza to waft into the Med City later this year, when a Windy City-style eatery opens in Northwest Rochester.
Looking for a change, Lance Patterson recently left his career as a financial investor and began looking for business opportunities.
He found what he was looking for in a pizza pan in Chicago.
“Rochester doesn’t have a Chicago-style pizza place. I was looking for something with a unique product,” he said.
He and his wife, LaRayne Patterson, have signed a lease to open a Rosati's Authentic Chicago Pizza restaurant in a 1,600-square-foot spot between Hy-Vee and Great Clips in Rochester’s Barlow Plaza.
The project is in its very early stages, so the Pattersons hope to be able open and start serving pizza within the next five to six months.
Rosati’s is a family-owned, traditional Chicago-style pizza restaurant with thin, “Double Dough” and stuffed crust pizzas as well as its “World Famous Chicago Deep Dish.” The menu also includes pizza by the slice, sandwiches, pastas, salads and more. The franchise has about 200 locations across the U.S.
While the Med City Rosati’s will have four tables and counter seating for dining in, Patterson said the restaurant's emphasis will be on take-out for dinners or quick lunches.
He estimates it will take a team of nine, including himself, to staff the new Rosati’s location.
“We’re going to have great pizza and excellent service. We’re really excited about this,” said Patterson.
