After 16 years as a full-time photographer in Rochester, Catharine Bliss is ready to move Bliss Photography into its own commercial studio.
She is moving her business out of her home this weekend and into a 900-square-foot studio in the Palladium office building at 1811 Greenview Place SW.
“I’ve never had a commercial space. This is my first go at that. I’m excited to put out my shingle,” said Bliss.
Bliss, who is best known for her newborn baby portraits, also shoots family, senior and professional photos.
This new space will give her more room and take the business out of her home. During the pandemic, she has done most of her photo shoots outside or at her church.
This new space, which she started negotiating for in December, will allow her to better control the environment for the safety of her clients and herself.
Having room to work is particularly important now as Bliss finds herself with two, almost three times the number of photo requests as usual.
“I think during the pandemic people are spending their money a little differently,” she said. “I think people are settling into wanting to preserve their family memories. I think it is a different priority.”
