Experience Rochester, formerly the Rochester Convention and Visitors Bureau, opened a new visitor information booth on Peace Plaza, next to the Kahler Grand Hotel.
The former downtown visitor kiosk was dismantled earlier this year due to construction.
The new booth was developed in response to the growing need to serve increasing numbers of visitors to downtown Rochester. Mayo Clinic recently broadened its elective health-care offerings, bringing more people to the city. The clinic had scaled back its operations this spring because of the worldwide COVID-19 pandemic.
Experience Rochester staff is on-site to greet visitors and offer suggestions of what to do and where to eat while they are here.
“We want people to feel welcomed and cared for,” Joe Ward, president of Experience Rochester, said in a statement announcing the opening. “In these changing times, we want to be a friendly face sharing our unique offerings; including how businesses are adhering to safety guidelines. This is a great opportunity to promote local businesses to guests of our city.”
The visitor information booth is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
