ZUMBROTA — Zumbrota Care Center will undergo a $5.5 million renovation and expansion after receivingpermission from the Minnesota Department of Health.
Owned by Zumbrota Health Services, the skilled nursing facility offers 24/7 nursing care and comprehensive rehabilitation services, and it has an attached assisted living center called The Bridges of Zumbrota.
Zumbrota Health Services is a faith-based, non-profit subsidiary wholly owned by St. Francis Health Services of Morris.
The construction is part of Zumbrota Health Services' plan to serve the growing long-term care resident population living in Zumbrota, Goodhue, Pine Island, Kenyon, Red Wing, Wanamingo, Cannon Falls, Mazeppa, Lake City, Rochester, Byron and Dodge Center, according to a press release it issued.
The project, which will start in September, consists of a 14,500-square-foot addition east of the existing facility. The lower level of the new addition will house the 2,400-square-foot therapy department and a new 1,800-square-foot kitchen, pantry and storage area.
Technological advancements will be implemented, including a wireless nurse call system that directs resident calls to a staff person's beeper, alerting staff which resident requires assistance. The system stores response time data helping to assess quality of care.
Zumbrota Health Services also is expanding its touch screen data entry system called Momentum Care Touch, to document the resident's path of care right at the point of delivery.
