Carla Ann Hansen, 60, of Blooming Prairie, died Sunday, July 17, 2011, at her home, following a three-year battle with cancer.

She was born Feb. 10, 1951, to Andrew and Mathilda (Weiser) Braun in Breckenridge, Minn. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Rosholt, S.D., where she attended elementary school. Her high school years were spent at St. Francis Academy in Hankinson, N.D. She did undergraduate work at Presentation College in Aberdeen, S.D., in 1969-1970, prior to her move to Minneapolis.

Carla married Marlo Dean Hansen on May 29, 1971, in Rosholt. After their marriage, they resided and worked in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area until 1981, when they moved to Geneva. They moved to Blooming Prairie in 1984. Carla was employed by Federated Insurance in Owatonna as an underwriter for 20 years.

A member of St. Columbanus Catholic Church in Blooming Prairie and a lifetime member of VFW Auxiliary, she enjoyed flower gardening, antiques and spending time at Big Stone Lake.

Survivors include her husband, Marlo Hansen of Blooming Prairie; son, Seth and his wife Erin; their sons, Cartes and Thomas of Big Lake; son, Nicholas and his wife, Anna; their daughters, Elizabeth and Stephanie of Madison, S.D.; sister-in-law, Patricia Braun of Hankinson, S.D.; brother, David and wife, Kathleen of Rosholt; brother, Walter and wife Madonna of Rosholt; seven nieces and six nephews; and seven grand-nieces and sixteen grand-nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew and Mathilda Braun; and two brothers, Thomas and Harold Braun.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 21, 2011, at St. Columbanus Catholic Church in Blooming Prairie, with Father William Kulas officiating. Friends may gather one hour prior to the service at the church.

Interment is at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis at a later date.
