Charles D. "Chuck" Hoeg, 70, of Wabasha, died Saturday, April 16, 2011, at Saint Marys Hospital in Rochester.
He was born March 16, 1941, in Carlson Township of Freeborn County, Minn.,, near Alden, the oldest child of Donald and Violet (Jergenson) Hoeg. He married Karen Staloch May 6, 1961, in Wells, Minn. Chuck worked 15 years for Gambles-Skogmo and then became a licensed insurance agent, working in Northfield. He retired in 2006 and the couple moved to Wabasha.
Chuck was a member of St. Felix Catholic Church in Wabasha, his faith being an important part of his life. He was also a member of Coffee Mill Golf and Country Club in Wabasha.
The love of his life was his wife and constant companion, Karen. His children and grandchildren brought him great joy. He especially loved spending time on the golf course and in the boat with his sons. Shelly and Pat’s home was always one of his favorite get-away spots. He equally enjoyed spending time with and watching his granddaughters and grandsons while they were participating in various activities. He also had a special fondness for his dog, Dakota. Chuck was an avid golfer and fisherman who enjoyed these activities with numerous friends that he had made over the years.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 50 years, Karen Hoeg, Wabasha; children and their spouses, Scott and Robin Hoeg, Dakota, Minn., Tracy and Leslie Hoeg, Northfield, and Shelly and Pat Sir, Minnetonka; eight grandchildren, Courtney and Krista Hoeg, Paul and Alexandria Hoeg and Connor, Charlie, Cara and Coco Sir; mother, Violet Hoeg, Wells; siblings and their spouses, Ken and Marjean Hoeg, Prior Lake, Nancy and Ed Ritter, Fairmont, Lenore and Bob Olson, Fairmont, Tom and Beth Hoeg, Litchfield, and Sandra and Ron Hartman, Wells; nieces and nephews; and his special companion, Dakota.

He was preceded in death by his father, Donald, and brother-in-law, David Olinger.
A Memorial Mass will be offered on Wednesday, April 20, 2011, at 11 a.m. at St. Felix Catholic Church, with the Reverend Glenn Frerichs officiating. Honorary bearers will be his eight grandchildren. Family and friends may call at the Abbott Funeral Home in Wabasha on Tuesday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., where there will be a prayer service at 8 p.m, during which there will be a time of sharing stories and memories. Family and friends may also call at the church on Wednesday one hour before the service.
A memorial in Chuck’s memory will be arranged.
