Minnesota's open enrollment program allows students to go to a school other than the one that's just down the street from their home. How many students are leaving Rochester's public schools -- and how many are coming in? On Tuesday,we take a look at the numbers as well as the reasons for the shifting of schools.

4. Kicking their way to state

Eight champions will be crowned this week in sections that include boys or girls soccer teams from the Post Bulletin's coverage area. Six champions will come from Section 1 (in classes A, AA and AAA for both boys and girls) and two champions will be crowned in Section 2, Class A (boys and girls). All of the Section 1 champions will be crowned on Tuesday, and the Section 2A champs will be determined on Thursday. The state soccer tournaments begin Oct. 26.

5. Wednesday Night Lights

The final week of the high school football regular season means it's MEA week, which means a full slate of regular season games on Wednesday night. We'll be out at three of those games, including at Mayo High School, where the Spartans will look to finish their regular season with a 7-1 record when they host Byron. Section playoffs begin the following Tuesday, Oct. 26.
