  • The Rochester/Olmsted County Crime Prevention Unit has been named the state’s best by the Minnesota Crime Prevention Association. Rochester Police Officer Mike Seidel has been named Crime Prevention Officer of the Year.
  • Rochester Lourdes senior Jay Peters was named to the 1995 Class B all-state academic football team.

  • The Winona State College University Program Council is going back a few years to sponsor a dance marathon in Winona County.
  • Two local men have completed basic training at Lackland Air Force Base, Texas. They are Airman William Rodenz from Preston and Airman Gerald Hanson of Lake City.

  • Bobby Glover, one of the best backs in Chatfield High School football history, was selected as a member of the District One all-conference team and chosen as part of the Minneapolis Star-Journal and Tribune all-state team. (Bobby Glover was a vital member of the undefeated and unscored on 1945 Chatfield High School football team.)
  • Dr. Donald Henning, rector of Shattuck School, Faribault, and former army chaplain, will preach at the Union Thanksgiving service in the Mayo Civic Auditorium.

1920 — 100 years ago

  • The high school football game between Pine Island and Kasson was postponed based on the frozen conditions of the field.
  • The Rochester Rifle Club will hold its annual Thanksgiving turkey shoot at the range east of the city. Shooting will begin at 9 a.m. and continue till noon.
