A second Perkins Cake & Steak House for Rochester will be built at 1647 S. Broadway and is scheduled for an April 1971 opening.

Two Winonans, Jerry Mourning and Bob Rolbiecki, will fight in a 12-match amateur boxing card in Rochester this week.
Dorothy Maynor, a soprano singer, inaugurated the Rochester Concert Series with a performance at the Mayo Civic Auditorium before a capacity crowd. (Maynor would go on to be the first Black singer to perform at a presidential inauguration – she sang “The Star-Spangled Banner” on Jan. 20, 1953, at the ceremony for Dwight D. Eisenhower)

There were reports that some chicken thieves were at work during the annual Plainview Poultry Show.
State Sen. W. A. Nolan of Grand Meadow and James Matchett of the State Board of Visitors made an official visit to the Rochester State Hospital.
A new Red Cross film entitled “The Spirit of Service” will be shown at the Empress Theater. Experts report it is one of the most beautiful single-reel films ever made.
