Mrs. Gary Carpenter of Rochester was named Mrs. Jaycee for the month for her assistance with local service projects at the Rochester State Hospital.
Dean Todd, Rochester State Junior College freshman, won the 134-pound championship at the North Dakota State School of Science Wrestling Invitational at Wahpeton, N.D.

A distinguished professorship to be known as the Mayo Professorship in Public Health was established at the University of Minnesota after receiving a $150,000 endowment from Mayo.
An estimated 17,000 German POWs will soon be heading home. Many have expressed respect for American democracy, and some hope to return to America to live.
A majority of Minnesotans (52%) believe President Truman is doing a “good” job.

More than 100 Shriners attended the complimentary banquet tendered to E. Starr Judd by the Rochester Shriners Club at the Masonic Temple. Dr. C. H. Mayo was a speaker at the event.
For the first time, more than half of the United States population lives in urban areas. Residents of cities and towns are now 51.4 percent of the population.
