Mayo Clinic’s History of Medicine to be dedicated

1992 – 25 years ago

• The top three hits on 106.9 radio this week are "Diamonds and Pearls" by Prince and The N.P.G., "I'll Get By" by Eddie Money and "The Way I Feel About You" by Karyn White.

• Dover-Eyota cruised to the Winona Class team wrestling championship and are now 11-1 in dual meets led by Keith Kroening's 22-0 record.

1967 – 50 years ago

• Mayo Clinic's History of Medicine will be dedicated in Plummer Hall on February 22. Public tours of the library, on the 15th floor of Plummer Building will be held on the day of dedication. The library houses the Clinic's collection of some 2,000 rare volumes.

• Donald Hess, science teacher at Kellogg Junior High School was presented with the Elk of the Year award at a meeting of the Rochester Lodge.

1942 – 75 years ago

• The Hawthorne school team captured the Grade School Basketball league title by beating Northrop 21 to 15. David Vine led the victors with nine points and Darrel Cochrane had 12 points for the runner-up.

• A balanced lunch at the cost of six cents is being served to junior college, senior high school and junior high school students in Central cafeteria beginning this week. The lunch program is a parent-teacher project in health and nutrition. Yesterday's menu was a serving of chili, apple sauce and milk.

1917 – 100 years ago

• The number of automobiles in Minnesota has been steadily increasing and motorists are driving their cars more and more as gasoline use in Minnesota has increased by sixteen per cent from 1916 to nearly ten million gallons. Gasoline is 4 cents per gallon.

• At the Presbyterian Church in Rochester this Sunday there will be an illustrated lecture of the immigrants along the Iron Range of Minnesota. All are welcome to come and learn about their homes, schools, industries and religion.
