ST. CHARLES — Dorothy T. Jones, 83, of St. Charles, died on Saturday, Jan. 29, 2011, at her home.
Dorothy was born on Nov. 4, 1927, in Dickinson, N.D., to Frank and Minnie (Huska) Schmidt. She was raised in Dickinson and graduated from St. Joseph’s High School there. On Nov. 3, 1945, she married Robert Jones in Texas. The couple purchased a farm in rural Dover, where they farmed for many years. Dorothy was very active on the farm. She loved driving tractor and caring for the animals, especially caring for the sheep. In 1990, Dorothy and Robert moved to St. Charles.
Church and family were her life. Dorothy was a very active member of the St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church where she was a part of many church organizations, most notably the Catholic Daughters.
Dorothy is survived by seven children, Dee (Ken) Markson of Mazeppa, Terry (Jean Marie) Jones of St. Charles, Bob (Ann) Jones of England, Rick (Gina) Jones of Dover, Tim (Rosey) Jones of St. Charles, Jim (Sheryl) Jones of Stanley, Wis., and Brent (Paulette) Jones of Lewiston; 21 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Angie (Hank) Shank of Dickinson, N.D., and Bernie (Bob) Horst of Laramie, Wyo. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and a brother, Dale.
The Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 4, 2011, at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, with the Rev. Kurt Farrell officiating. Burial will be in the Hillside Cemetery in St. Charles.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday at Hoff Funeral and Cremation Service in St. Charles, and one hour prior to the funeral Mass on Friday at the church.
The family prefers memorials directed to St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church.
