Eline "Knute" Verlo Knutson, 82, of Rochester, died Tuesday, April 5, 2011, from stroke complications at Saint Marys Hospital.
Eline was born July 17, 1928, in Rochester, to Engvald and Vivian Knutson. He lived his entire life in Rochester. He married Dolores Jones on June 10, 1950, in Pine City. He worked for the Minnesota Department of Transportation for 41 years as a mechanic, then eventually shop foreman.
During retirement, he volunteered at the Mayo Clinic. He enjoyed attending the Civil War and World War II round-table discussions and was well read on all types of historical events. Eline also loved being outdoors enjoying all the wildlife that passed through their property. He was a wonderful husband and father and will be greatly missed.
Eline is survived by his wife Dolores; three children; Bill of Sioux Falls, S.D., Bob (wife, Lynann and son, Brandon) of Kasson and Susan of Longmont, Colo.; three grandchildren, Angie, Katie, and Eric; two great-grandchildren, Trevor and Jacob; and brother, Raymond of Spooner, Wis.
A funeral service is planned for Saturday, April 9, 2011, at 10:30 a.m. at Bethel Lutheran Church , 810 3rd Ave. S.E. in Rochester. There is no visitation before the funeral.
