Ervin James Richardson, 67, of LeRoy, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2011, in Grand Rapids, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Erv "Coach" was born in Bovey, on June 29, 1944. He graduated in 1963 from Greenway High School, attended UMD in Duluth and graduated from Bemidji State with a degree in Business Education. Erv and his wife, Carol, and family moved to LeRoy in 1972, where he taught and coached football, basketball and Little League for many years.
Erv was an avid fisherman and loved all sports.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Grace and Floyd Richardson of Grand Rapids; and his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Rewybelle and Waldemar "Baldy" Johnson, Grand Rapids.
Ervin is survived by his wife, Carol (Johnson) of LeRoy; his daughter, Debra of Cologne, Germany; his son, Rob (Michaela) and their children, Eliot Waldemar, 6, Shepard James, 4, and Matilda Belle, 7 months, of Robbinsdale; three brothers, Melvin (Karen) Richardson and family of Grand Rapids, Jordan (Bernie) Richardson and family of Warba and William (Debby) Richardson and family of Bovey; one sister, Charlotte (Darrell) Zuehlke and family of Bovey. He is also survived by a special uncle, Bertram Kleven and his family of Grand Rapids; and other cousins.

He will be sadly missed by family and numerous friends.
A memorial gathering and Celebration of his Life will be held Saturday, Nov. 19, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Travel Lanes (downstairs) in LeRoy. Everyone is welcome.
