Francis J. Van Schaick - Millville
Francis J. "Duffy" Van Schaick, 65, of Millville, died Wednesday July 27, 2011, at St. Isidore Health Center of Greenwood Prairie in Plainview.
His funeral will be held at the gravesite in Grandview Memorial Gardens in Rochester at 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 29, with the Rev. Jack Miller officiating. Military Honors will follow.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, July 31, at Hilltop Fellowship Church in rural Millville.
Francis John Van Schaick was born July 31, 1945, in Dodge Center, to George and Dorothy (Rubin) Van Schaick. He served in the Navy from Jan. 24, 1967, to Sept. 12, 1969. He married Pamela Morrow and was later divorced. In 1986 he married Melanie A. Bren of Billings, Mont., and was later divorced. From 1968 to 1977, Duffy owned and operated the Millville Cafe in Millville. Then he lived in Colorado and Montana until 1986 where he worked at 4 Seasons Motor Inn in Colorado Springs, Colo., and the Seventeen Club in Billings, Mont. From 1986 to 1990, he worked at the American Legion Club in Plainview, and in 1992 he worked at Dairy Cafe and the Plainview Hotel in Plainview. In recent years, he worked at Stumble Inn in Millville.
Duffy is survived by one daughter, Stephanie Reiners of Billings, Mont.; one son, Travis Van Schaick; three grandchildren; his mother, Dorothy Kranz of Plainview; one sister, Joan "Susie" (Neil) Richards of Millville; and one brother, Raymond (Marilyn) Van Schaick of Spring Valley. He was preceded in death by his father, son, Jason Christopher, two brothers, James and Fabian and his step-father.
