Traffic moves east and west on U.S. Highway 14 Wednesday near Claremont. Gov. Mark Dayton signed a bill that authorizes funding for the expansion of U.S. Highway 14 between Dodge Center and Owatonna from a two-lane highway to a four-lane.

In honor of World Milk Day, the staff at the Kemps Rochester Milk Plant -- including managers Rick Janes, right, and Jay Torkelson -- make a toast to their cold beverages Friday afternoon. 179,000 gallons of milk were made Friday to put towards the 450 products -- including ice cream, buttermilk and creamer -- the local company makes, according to Janes.

The DFL State Convention kicks off Friday at the Mayo Civic Center in Rochester. More than 1,300 delegates will gather through the weekend with the goal of endorsing candidates for state and federal office. Most of the drama is expected to focus on the DFL endorsement battle for governor. U.S. Rep. Tim Walz, a five-term congressman from Mankato, goes into the convention regarded as the early favorite to win the party's endorsement by the end of the three-day convention.
