HARMONY -- A memorial service will be held for Phyllis Coffman in July at Richland Prairie (Scotland) Church in rural Harmony. The body was cremated.
Mrs. Coffman, 72, of Portland, Ore., formerly of the Harmony area, died Saturday (Jan. 31, 1998) at Friendship Medical Center Nursing Home in Portland. She had been in poor health since suffering a stroke in 1976 and also had emphysema.
Phyllis McKay was born June 17, 1925, in rural Harmony, attended O'Hara country school and graduated from Harmony High School in 1943. She then was a secretary at a YMCA camp for several years before becoming employed by Minneapolis Honeywell. In June 1952 she married Robert Coffman. He died July 1, 1980.
Survivors include two daughters, Ramona Coffman (Mrs. Larry) Fratkin of Beverton, Ore., and Dawn Marie (Mrs. David) Lewis of Bellflower, Calif.; two grandchildren; a brother, Chester McKay of Harmony; and four sisters, Frances Fried of Tucson, Ariz., Harriet (Mrs. Bill) Benjamin of Bella Vista, Ark., Marjorie (Mrs. Adrian) Johnson of Silver Bay, Minn., and Marilyn (Mrs. Louis) Ludens of Harmony. A sister preceded her in death.@et
