James "Jim" R. Krampitz, 63, of Owatonna, died Saturday, April 23, 2011, at Regions Hospital in St. Paul.
He was born April 22, 1948, in Owatonna, the son of Carl and Selma (Johnson) Krampitz. Graduated from John Marshall High School in Rochester with the class of 1966, and then attended junior college. He lived and worked in Rochester and the surrounding area before moving up north to Carlton County and later to Owatonna. James was an over-the-road truck driver for most of his life, and enjoyed every aspect of the trucking business.
He married Ann Holder Feb. 17, 1989, and together they ran the trucking business and owned and managed property in St. Paul. He worked hard his whole life to provide for his family. Jim took pride in being a father and was proud of all his children. He recently retired from McFarland Truck Lines in Austin, as a driver recruiter.
Jim enjoyed being with his grandchildren, taking his "boys" dogs for coffee and donuts, going to the State Fair, restoring hot rod cars and playing golf.
He is survived by his wife, Ann Krampitz of Owatonna; children, Jay Krampitz of Rochester, Jerome (Karen) Krampitz of Rochester, John (Jenny) Sanborn of Owatonna, Jared (friend Diandra Lane) Krampitz of Owatonna, Mason Krampitz of Owatonna, Amanda (Tom) Prestegard of Owatonna, Lisa (Craig) Havelka of Medford, Destiny Krampitz of Owatonna and Eternity Krampitz of Owatonna. He is also survived by eight grandchildren, Alyssa, Colin, Colton, Hailey, Riley, Lauren, Taylor and Braelyn.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Adolph and Robert Krampitz.
Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home in Owatonna on Tuesday, April 26, 2011, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., and at Trinity Lutheran Church on Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 27, at 10:30 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, with Reverend John Lestock officiating.
