ROCHESTER — Jean A. Soma, 78, of Rochester, died Tuesday, (Feb. 15, 2011) at Golden Living Center West in Rochester.

Jean Arline Soma (Kvall) was born Jan. 10, 1933, in Grand Meadow Village, Mower County, Minnesota to Siguard and Clarissa (Terlinden) Kvall. She married Roger J. Soma in Las Vegas, Nev. He preceded her in death on Sept. 12, 2010. Jean worked at Libby's (now Seneca Foods), The Old Ranch Market on 2nd Street, ABC, Rochester State Hospital in LPN classes, she and her husband owned the Bellchester Tavern, and she retired from the Rochester School Bus as an aid in 1997 for health reasons.

The most important part of Jean's life was her family, she also enjoyed Bingo, camping, reading, word find, and sudoko.

Survivors include his son, Sheldon (Bonita), and daughter Mary (Chuck) Nordine, both of Rochester; three granddaughters, Stacey, and Shelby both of Rochester, and Jennifer of Wisconsin, one grandson, James of Missouri; 15 great-grandchildren; and her sister, Shirley Meschke of Owatonna. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, aunts, uncles, and many lifelong friends.

A double celebration of life for both Jean and Roger will be held at 2 p.m. March 12, 2011 at Homestead United Methodist Church in Rochester, with a visitation one hour prior to the service.
