Kim Eugene Swanson was born Sept. 11, 1955, in Britt, Iowa, to Norm and Pearl Swanson. He died in hospice care in San Antonio, Texas, of pancreatic cancer on Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2011.
He attended school in Hayfield. He was active in sports, especially basketball, which he practiced with the neighborhood boys in what was known as the "Barn Team". He attended college in Mankato, and Kilgore and Houston, Texas. He played basketball with the Campus Crusade Team, traveling to many countries in the Far East. Most of his life was spent in Arizona where he was in real estate until he bought an RV resort in Texas, five years ago.
He was an avid golfer, winning many tournaments.
He leaves his wife, Marian; children, Isaac, Charity (Jerry), Serrena, Justin (Jennifer), Hope and Maxim; five grandchildren; his mother, Pearl; and four brothers, Randy, Craig, Jeff and Mike, and their wives and children. He was preceded in death by his father, Norm.
A celebration of his life will be held Thursday, Nov. 10, at the Olympia Hill Golf Conference Center in Universal City, Texas.
