Lisi Wright is coming home.

The violinist/vocalist will lead her jazz-rock band the Galactic Cowboy Orchestra in concert at 7:30 p.m Saturday at the Paramount Theatre, 125 Fourth Ave. NE, Austin.

Wright grew up on a hog farm near Blooming Prairie and has been playing violin since she was 5 years old. She is joined in the Twin Cities-based Galactic Cowboy Orchestra by her husband, John Wright, on bass, Dan Neale on guitars, and Alec Tackmann, a Rochester native, on percussion.

The band's repertoire includes everything from Led Zeppelin covers to experimental originals.

Tickets are $20 in advance, $25 the day of the show, available at austinarts.org and 507-434-0934.

Free Ladama concert shifted to civic center

A free mini-concert by the World Music band Ladama will now be held at 1 p.m. Nov. 21 at Mayo Civic Center. The concert was originally set for the Rochester Public Library but has been moved due to ongoing restoration work at the library following extensive water damage in September.

Ladama, which consists of four women from Colombia, Brazil, Venezuela and the United States, will perform a full-length concert at 7 p.m. Nov. 21 at Rochester Civic Theatre.

Tickets for that concert are $15.50 for members of Riverside Concerts and $17 for the general public, available at the Riverside Concerts office in City Hall, at the Mayo Civic Center box office, and through Ticketmaster online.

Ladama will also present a free mini-concert at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 20 at the Paramount Theatre in Austin.

Resounding Voices concert is Saturday

Resounding Voices, a chorus of singers living with dementia issues and their support partners, will perform at 10 a.m. Saturday at Calvary Evangelical Free Church, 5500 25th Ave. NW.

The concert, "Music Takes Flight," will feature old favorites and new works centered on the theme of birds. The chorus is directed by Suzy Johnson, with Bruce Rohde as accompanist.

Admission is $10 for adults, free for ages 18 and younger. A reception follows the concert.

"Toad and Frog" auditions set for Nov. 10-11

Absolute Theatre will hold auditions Nov. 10 and 11 for an upcoming production of the musical "A Year with Frog & Toad."

Roles are available for thee men and two women. All actors will be paid a small stipend. The director is Kathy Keech. Auditions are at 6:30 p.m. both days at Castle Community, 121 N. Broadway.

Production dates are Jan. 16-26.

'Shrek' musical opens at Kasson-Mantorville High School

The Kasson-Mantorville all-school production of "Shrek, the Musical," will be presented Nov. 9 through Nov. 17 at Kasson-Mantorville high school.

The show is directed by Mel Ferris, and features 60 K-M students in grades 3 through 12 on stage and 40 students in backstage jobs.

Performances are at 7 p.m. Nov. 8-9, 7 p.m. Nov. 14-16, with 2 p.m. matinees Nov. 10 and Nov. 17. There is also a special seniors and students performance at noon Nov. 7.

Tickets are $10 for adults, $8 for students and senior citizens, available at komet-tickets.com.
