LANESBORO — The 150th anniversary of the founding of Lanesboro will be celebrated with history pop-up plays Sept. 21-22 and Sept. 28-29.

The plays, presented on the streets of Lanesboro, are written by Jane Peck, who is also artistic director for the productions. A brass band, stagecoach, medicine show and Wild West scene are part of the shows. Also featured will be major historical figures who were part of Lanesboro's history, including Frederick Douglass and Elizabeth Stanton.

Tours of the plays are at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m., and require walking about two blocks. Tours leave from the Sons of Norway Hall, 200 Parkway Ave. S. All scenes are handicapped accessible. Admission is free.

DreamAcres to host picnic operetta

WYKOFF -- "Clemency of Tito's Tennis Club," a picnic operetta by Twin Cities-based Mixed Precipitation, will be presented at 3 p.m. Saturday at DreamAcres farm.

The production is an adaption of Mozart's "La Clemenza." A rag-tag group of tennis players find their climb to the top of Rome's championship threatened by backstabbing, bitterness and a revenge plot. Along the way, picnic bites will be shared with the audience.

Suggested admission is $10 to $15.

— Also coming up at DreamAcres is "The Best of All Possible Worlds," a one-man comedy by David Mann, at 8 p.m. Sept. 28. The play is about life in the suburbs, parenting and being a corporate speaker.

Suggested admission is $15. Wood-fired pizza is available from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Warner concert set for Lake City

LAKE CITY — Singer/songwriter Dennis Warner will perform at 7 pm. Saturday at the Lake City Arts Center, 105 W. Center St.

Warner has performed at the Kennedy Center, and last year sang at the Parliament of the World's Religions in Toronto. His book, "One String," has been used in bully prevention programs in elementary schools.

Admission is $10.

Old Frontenac featured in art exhibition

FRONTENAC — "Old Frontenac on Lake Pepin," an exhibition of art showcasing the natural surroundings of Frontenac, will open with a reception from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday at the renovated Villa Maria, 29847 Goodhue County Road 2 in Frontenac.

The exhibition is part of Frontenac's 160th anniversary celebration, "Stepping  Back in Time — A Celebration to Honor Our Heritage."

The exhibition is open from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. weekends through Oct. 19.

Concert marks Augsburg, Bethel anniversaries

The Augsburg College Centennial Singers will perform at 3 p.m. Sunday at Bethel Lutheran Church, 810 Third Ave. SE.

The concert is in celebration of the 150th anniversary of both Augsburg and Bethel. Admission is free.
