A juried poetry contest held by the Friends of the Rochester Public Library has a Feb. 25 deadline for submissions.
"Poetry at the Plummer House" is the name of the event, which culminates in a March 13 event at the historic Rochester house, in which prize-winning poets will read their poems.
Tickets are $10, and funds from the event will support the library. The March 13 event runs from noon to 2:30 p.m., starting with an hour-long reception with conversation, coffee and refreshments before Post-Bulletin Managing Editor Jay Furst introduces the poets at 1 p.m.
For event reservations and more information, call 507-328-2341 or visit www.rochesterpubliclibrary.org/friends. Tickets will be sold in the Friends' Bookstore, at the library, during regular business hours in February.
Poems submitted for the contest will be displayed at the library, and winning entries published in the Post-Bulletin. Entry guidelines are posted at the Friends' website. Poets may send questions by e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org.
