Underwater Dogs

WINONA — "Underwater Dogs," an exhibition of photographs by Seth Casteel, will open Thursday at the Minnesota Marine Art Museum, 800 Riverview Drive, Winona.

Casteel's book, "Underwater Dogs," became a New York Times bestseller, and was the top-selling photography book of 2012. This is the first museum exhibition of his images.

In conjunction with this exhibition, the museum's weekly Tuesday happy hour, from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., will be rebranded as "Mississippi Sippin' and Slurpin'" for the remainder of August and through September. Participants are welcome to bring their dogs to the event.

The "Underwater Dogs" exhibition continues through Jan. 5, 2020.

Jazz singer returns to Winona for outdoor show

WINONA — Jazz singer Vanessa Trouble, a Winona native now based in New York, will perform Friday at Briggs Outdoors, 27171 Winona County Highway 9.

Trouble launched her singing career in the early 1990s on the West Coast, but is now a regular at New York City clubs. She performs year-round in the Hamptons, on Long Island.

Tickets are $25 in advance, through eventbrite.com, $30 at the gate. Tickets include a wood-fired pizza buffet. Gates open at 5:30 p.m. with music starting at 7:30 p.m. There is a post-show social at 9 p.m.
