The Red Kettles are here and The Salvation Army is looking for bell ringers to staff the kettles at locations across Rochester, Stewartville, and Chatfield. Bell ringers help us to raise nearly half of our Christmas Goal each year. One hour of time at the kettles can raise as much as $100, which provides a hot meal for 75 people for 3 days, a medical clinic appointment for an uninsured person, 2 outings for an elderly community member, a musical instrument and music lessons for an at-risk child, and so much more. Bell ringers can ring for as little as one hour, or as long as they'd like. Sign up to ring by visiting www.registertoring.com or call 507-288-3663 for more information or to volunteer with Rochester Salvation Army

AARP Tax-Aide Appointment Schedulers take phone calls from taxpayers, schedule them into available times on the computerized appointment calendar. Our taxpayers are low-to-moderate income individuals who come to the Tax-Aide program to have their tax returns prepared. Appointment Schedulers are needed from mid-January through April, with a few volunteers needed through August for scheduling property tax returns. Volunteers commit to a half day a week and identify their interest by mid-December. Appointment scheduling is done from the United Way. Volunteers must have familiarity with computers. Training for this volunteer position is the first week of January each year. Email gracep@uwolmsted.org or call 507-287-1533 for more information or to volunteer with AARP Foundation and United Way of Olmsted County.

This is a wonderful opportunity to create hope, strength, and joy for a child with a critical illness! Wish Granters will be able to build a relationship with a child in the community and connect with the child’s family. Wish Granters assist the child throughout the whole process from determining their unique and heartfelt wish, to helping make it all come true! Wish Granters work in teams of two or three to assure the wish is fulfilled. No experience needed! We will provide training. Email info@wishmn.org or call 612-767-9474 for more information or to volunteer with Make-A-Wish® Minnesota.
