David A. Grimsrud, age 80, is a painter working from his home studio in Zumbrota. After graduating from St. Olaf College in 1962, he spent a dozen years teaching art and coaching basketball at Rochester's John Marshall High School. He earned graduate degrees in art from Minnesota State University, Mankato, and Indiana University Bloomington.

His work is inspired by American modern artists Stuart Davis and Norman Ives. Dave's cityscapes include letters and numbers to add visual interest and to symbolize his many years working in graphic design and publishing. Three paintings were commissioned for the Minnesota Vikings Stadium Art Collection in Minneapolis.
