Rochester Art Center has received a $40,000 grant from the Jerome Foundation to support the Third Floor Emerging Artist Series for the next two years.
The series was started in 2004 by Kris Douglas, the art center's chief curator, and since then has featured 40 Minnesota artists. For many of them, the Third Floor exhibition is their first museum show. In addition to having their work exhibited, each artist is also the subject of a published curatorial essay.
The art center has also received a $5,000 grant from the Carl & Verna Schmidt Foundation to support the upcoming Lamar Peterson "Suburbia Sublime" exhibition.
These grants and other topics will likely be on the agenda at the art center's annual meeting, which will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. April 29.
