Brave Theatre examines love in Valentine show

SPRING VALLEY — Love is all around in Spring Valley, thanks to Brave Community Theatre 's Valentine production, "Food for Thought."

The production, to be presented Feb. 9-11, consists of six short plays, as well as live music and dinner. "It's six 10-minute plays not related to one another, although they have a common theme of love," said Debi Neville, Brave Community Theatre director.

Three of the plays are by local playwrights: Joan Sween of Rochester, Tim Brennan of Austin, and Neville. Eleven actors are featured in the six plays.

"We looked around for plays that would fit," Neville said. "This is such a great opportunity for the actors. They get to play a lot of different parts."

The cast consists of Julie Mlinar, Stephanie Osterhus, Jeff Thauwald, Sheryl Strain, Jon Dahl, Aleta Capelle, Craig Cornell, Linda Neimeyer, Rita Hartert, Roger Svebakken and Neville.

The short plays range from comedy to heart-touching to a murder mystery. "The audience gets a whole concept of the different kinds of love," Neville said.

The plays will be complemented by music performed by Maria Klinsheim.
