RED WING — The Wailin' Jennys , a folk music supergroup from Canada, will perform at 7 p.m. Oct. 11 at the Sheldon Theatre in Red Wing.
The Jennys are Nicky Mehta, Ruth Moody and Heather Masse, who have come from other bands and projects to combine voices. The results have had critics and fans falling over themselves to come up with superlatives. Since releasing their first album in 2004, the Jennys have won two Juno Awards (the Canadian Grammy) for the records "40 Days" and "Bright Morning Stars."
The trio began as a one-time-only performance at a Winnipeg guitar shop, and has continued since then, with original members Moody and Mehta later joined by Masse.
In addition to performing and recording with the Jennys, all three artists maintain solo careers. Both with the Jennys and as individuals, they have been frequent guests on the "A Prairie Home Companion" radio program.
Tickets are $39.50 for adults, $24.50 for students; 651-388-8700.
