Chamber society to host Marinus debut

Marinus Ensemble Joseph Kuipers on cello and Alex McDonald on piano

The Marinus Ensemble, which includes Rochester native Joseph Kuipers, will make its Rochester debut for the final concert of the Rochester Chamber Music Society season.

The concert is at 7:30 p.m. April 12 at Christ United Methodist Church, 400 Fifth Ave. S.W.

The ensemble consists of Kuipers on cello and Alex McDonald on piano. Kuipers holds degrees from the New England Conservatory of Music, the Hochschule fur Musik und Darstellende Kunst in Mannheim, Germany, and the Musik-Akademie der Stadt Basel in Switzerland. He has performed with ensembles in Boston, New York, Basel and Mannheim.

McDonald holds a bachelors degree from the New England Conservatory, a master's from Juilliard and is currently a doctoral student at Juilliard.

The concert program will feature pieces by Debussy, J.S. Bach, Chopin, Faure and Brahms.
