Film festival adds showing of 'Omar'

The Rochester International Film Festival has been extended one day for one film.

The festival, which was scheduled to conclude today, will go one day longer so that the film "Omar," which had to be pre-empted last weekend due to technical difficulties, can be shown in its entirety.

Subtitles on the film did not work for Saturday's scheduled showing.

Now "Omar," complete with functioning subtitles, will be shown at 7:15 p.m. Friday. The Palestinian-made film was an Oscar nominee for Best Foreign Language film. It is about a young Palestinian man who is caught by Israeli police for a crime committed by a friend of his. He is tricked into cooperation with the police and is forced to work as an informant.
