High school, college students partner for concert at Winona State

WINONA — The Winona State University Symphonic Wind Ensemble will be joined on Sunday by the Wabasha-Kellogg School District Band Program performers at a midwinter concert.

It begins at 2 p.m. in the Vivian R. Fusillo Main Stage Theatre in WSU's Performing Arts Center.

The groups will premiere "Anthem for the Winter Solstice," a newly commissioned work by Anthony O'Toole. Stephanie Scheibe, of the W-K program, initiated the commission and will conduct the performance.

The WSU band will perform additional pieces by O'Toole along with other works to include "Dance, Opus 10" by WSU alumnus Thomas C. Lang, "Air for Band" by Frank Erickson, and "Comic Tat-Too" by Phillipp Fahrbach.

The concert is free and open to the public.
