Mantorville opens season's second melodrama

MANTORVILLE — "For Whatever It's Worth, or Of Love and Lack Thereof,"the second production of the Mantorville Theatre Company summer melodrama season, opens Friday and runs through July 26.

The new play, written and directed by Rachel Soland, of Mantorville, takes place in the backstage are of a theater, where a "serious" melodrama is in the works. Lance Lackworth, who has played the hero most of his career, and Oscar Noble, new to the role of the villain, compete for heroine Fallon Love.

In the cast are Carli Stark, Jace Gray, Luke Walker, Katie Harfmannand Soland, all of Mantorville;

Ben McCaskeyand Chris McCaskey, of Kasson; and Ben Menning,of Rochester. Alicia Frarck, of Dodge Center, is at the piano.

Performances are at 7:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, and 2 p.m. Sundays, at the Mantorville Opera House. Tickets are $10 for adults, $8 for students and senior citizens; 507-635-5420.
