'One Bad Apple' ends melodrama season

Mantorville Theatre Company's fourth (and final) Melodrama of the 2013 season is "One Bad Apple" or "Rotten to the Core."

MANTORVILLE — "One Bad Apple, or Rotten to the Core," the final Mantorville Melodrama of the season, opens Friday at the Mantorville Opera House.

The play, written and directed by Sandra Hennings Miller, is another in this season of greatest hits celebrating 41 years of Mantorville Melodramas.

The story unfolds at the Blossom Apple Farm, where Miss Cherry Blossom is getting ready for a visit by Baron Von Fritter, from Germany, who is coming to inspect the Blossom Farm's apples. The baron arrives with his personal assistant, but Cherry's boyfriend suspects the baron is a fraud. Meanwhile, the baron's assistant falls in love with an old maid who lives nearby.

The cast consists of Mikala Metzger, Laurel Panser, Missy Mills, Ben Peters, Dan Peters, Cindy Saunders, Jacob Quam and Harry Coleman, with Levi Livingood at the piano.

Performances are at 7:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, and 2 p.m. Sundays through Sept. 15. There is no performance on Sept. 8. Tickets are $9 and $8; for reservations, call 507-635-5420.
