Concert features French music
The Rochester Chamber Music Society will present its last concert of the season, "Le Chemins de l'Amour," next week, featuring an evening of French music.
Guest artist soprano Maria Jette has appeared with the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra, Houston Symphony Orchestra, New York Chamber Symphony, Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra, Minnesota Orchestra and many others. She has been a regular guest at the Oregon Bach, Victoria Bach and San Luis Obispo Mozart Festivals, the Oregon Festival of American Music, and on Public Radio International’s "A Prairie Home Companion."
She has also performed more than 45 operatic roles, including "Mrs. Olson," which she created for the May 2002 Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra premiere of Garrison Keillor’s operatic excursion, "Mr. and Mrs. Olson."
For the concert, she and pianist Horacio Nuguid will perform pieces by Gounod, Viardot, Chabrier, Fauré, Satie, Ravel and Poulenc.
"Le Chemins de l'Amour ... French songs from Gounod to Poulenc," will be at 7:30 p.m. April 14 at Christ United Methodist Church, 400 Fifth Ave. S.W., Rochester.
Admission to the concert is free. The Rochester Chamber Music Society does accept donations, which are tax deductible.
