Guitarist Billy McLaughlin, who taught himself to play left-handed after experiencing a debilitating illness, will perform at 7:30 p.m. May 21 at the Paramount Theatre in Austin.
McLaughlin suffers from focal dystonia, which made it impossible for him to continue playing the guitar right-handed. In 2004, he began teaching himself to play left-handed, and has since returned to performing and recording. His journey back to the stage was documented in film, "Changing Keys: Billy McLaughlin and the Mysteries of Dystonia."
For this concert, he will be backed by a string quartet. Tickets are $17 for adults, $10 for students. For reservations, call (866) 434-0934, or 434-0934.
