Have a wee bit o' Irish Fest

You can't have an Irish Fest without music, and there'll be plenty of Irish music and dance at the first Rochester Irish Fest , Sept. 2-4.

Live music Sept. 2 on the Peace Plaza stage will include Andreas Transo and the Fuchsia Band, while the lineup for Sept. 3 features the Irish Minstrels, O'Shea Dancers, Transo, the Fuchsia Band and the Twin Cities Ceili Band with the Mooncoin Dancers.

There will also be a culture tent, with Irish genealogy, storytelling contest and films, and an outdoor children's area, that will include contests for best fairy costume, reddest hair and most freckles.

On Sept. 4, the Rochester Civic Theatre lobby will host a viewing of the All-Ireland hurling final and a traditional Irish breakfast. Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for children. Details are at www.irishfestmn.org.
