A longtime Minnesota music maker Tim Mahoney caught the ear of the nation as a contestant on "The Voice." Now he's back in Minnesota and ready to perform Friday in Rochester.
Mahoney's stint on national television may be best remembered by Maroon 5’s Adam Levine's reaction to hearing Mahoney sing before turning his chair around.
"I thought you were a chick," Levine said as he selected Mahoney for his team on Season 1 of "The Voice."
Mahoney was eliminated in the "Battle Round." A few months later he released a single about his experience called, "Hey Adam Levine."
Mahoney also has a long history of giving back to his community through his music, and he did so again recently with a new song, "Believe," written for high school hockey player Jack Jablonski, who was paralyzed in a hockey game on Dec. 30. His song "Just Give" will be used as the theme for Minnesota’s Give to the Max Day.

He's now finishing up a new EP set for release in the spring.
Mahoney will play at the Wicked Moose Bar, 1201 Eastgate Dr. S.E. Admission is free.
