MANTORVILLE — You've seen the movie, now you can see the play, when the Mantorville Theatre Company presents "A Christmas Story" Nov. 26 through Dec. 12.
The play, like the movie, is based on Jean Shepherd's humorous Christmastime memories of being a boy and wanting something special under the Christmas tree. In this case, it's a genuine Red Ryder BB gun.
Before Christmas, though, the boy, Ralphie, must contend with a host of adults — including a department store Santa — warning him "You'll shoot your eye out."
Performances are at 7:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, and at 2 p.m. Sundays at the historic Mantorvile Opera House. Tickets are $14 for adults, $12 for students and senior citizens, and can be reserved by calling (507) 635-5420.
