Wheeler slates performance at Crossings
ZUMBROTA — Cheryl Wheeler, considered one of the shining lights of the singer-songwriter movement, performs at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 25 at Crossings at Carnegie, 320 East Ave., Zumbrota.
Wheeler, a Maryland native, got her start by performing in clubs and coffeehouses in Baltimore and Washington, D.C., before moving to New England and eventually gaining national notice.
At one point, Nashville tried to make her into a country singer, but Wheeler's music has always been more organic than manufactured. On the other hand, several of her songs have been recorded by country singers as diverse as Garth Brooks and Suzy Bogguss.
Wheeler's most recent album is "Pointing at the Sun."
Tickets are $22 in advance, $24 at the door, and can be reserved by phone at (507) 732-7616.
