Cosmic Calm

There's a beautiful stillness worth taking advantage of today. Tomorrow brings the winter solstice, a new Capricorn moon and the end of a Uranus retrograde. Before all of these wonderful changes occur to shake things up, what is it you'd like to accomplish? Order your priorities and accept the planetary push of encouragement.

ARIES (March 21-April 19). Self-knowledge leads to knowledge of others. Your understanding of how you think and feel makes it easier for you to step back, analyze and empathize with the reactions of others.

TAURUS (April 20-May 20). You notice the many ways in which karma comes full circle. Your faith in what's good and right will be strengthened when you see it validated in the world time and again.

GEMINI (May 21-June 21). Your tolerances and tastes are different from those of the next person, and those differences will be most pronounced this afternoon. Your respectful attitude and soft conversational touch will endear you.

CANCER (June 22-July 22). There are moments when you think, "What am I doing with my life?" And then hopefully you'll follow up by reminding yourself -- not trying to make it up anew. You have a plan; you're just forgetting what it is.

LEO (July 23-Aug. 22). You'll get so caught up in an act of generosity that you won't even feel like keeping track of what you're giving. That's the spirit! (And yet, you may later need a figure to give to your accountant.)

VIRGO (Aug. 23-Sept. 22). Being willing to make the sacrifices necessary to have what you want is much easier in the abstract future. The proof is in the moment that the sacrifice is required.

LIBRA (Sept. 23-Oct. 23). How much success can you endure and not become corrupted? How much happiness can you endure and not become spoiled? You hope to find out the answers to these questions.

SCORPIO (Oct. 24-Nov. 21). If you see someone who looks like you doing the thing you want to do, it will make it easier for you. If you don't, it will be harder, but you have it in you to be a trailblazer if you believe enough in yourself.

SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 22-Dec. 21). Don't wait until you have enough money. Find a way to do it without the money. Maybe it will be smaller. Maybe it will include more people (or less people), but there is a way.

CAPRICORN (Dec. 22-Jan. 19). What you learn today will provide further intrigue about someone who already fascinates you. Savor the mystery -- there's not enough of that going around these days.

AQUARIUS (Jan. 20-Feb. 18). Emotions have a way of becoming habits. You use this principle to your advantage by making up your mind to be happy and arranging things so that there's little that can get in the way of that.

PISCES (Feb. 19-March 20). Your reputation is like your shadow. It changes every time you make a move, reflecting faithfully what you do. But if they want the complete picture, they'll have to look directly at you.

TODAY'S BIRTHDAY (Dec. 20). Love and good health go together for you this year, and these areas of your life will both thrive at once. The next six weeks bring extra discipline. Projects advance in February, and you'll take on an exciting responsibility in March. To make money, choose a mentor and follow that person without resistance. Libra and Cancer people adore you. Your lucky numbers are: 40, 12, 5, 19 and 26.

ASTROLOGICAL QUESTIONS: "Will my boyfriend marry me or not? He's a Virgo, and I'm a Cancer. One day he's talking about us as a couple and the things we'll do when we are married, and the next day he says he needs his space. I'm 40 years old, and I don't want children, but I'd like to know what my future is going to be like."

Cancer women like you thrive when your concept of home is nailed down. You want to know where you're going to live, what it's going to look and feel like, and who is going to be living there with you. Virgo men have their own ideas about home life and can be meticulous in their demands of their personal space. It may be easier than you realize to accidentally violate your man's personal space rules. Your best bet is to give him a wide berth. That may require you to take the marriage issue off the table. Build your own home, space and life as though you could care less whether or not he is in it. It may seem cold to you, but in fact there will be nothing warmer and more attractive to him than a woman who is comfortable in her own groove.

CELEBRITY PROFILES: From "The Wolf of Wall Street" to "How To Train Your Dragon," Sagittarius superstar Jonah Hill proves he has something for all ages. With four major luminaries in Sagittarius, Hill excels in roles that bring him to completely alien worlds, a talent he's tapped into for most of the roles he's taken on these days. The versatile star was born when the moon was in ever-changing Cancer.
